Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Joe P — 10 Oct 2012
Without a doubt, this is John Huston's greatest film. While the bare bones storyline is one that we have seen again and again, "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" takes that cliched premise and runs with it.
It presents us with an unbelievably insightful look into human greed and triviality and exactly what it means to "sell your soul." Often overlooked is the final scene which, symbolically speaking, is equivalent to being hit by a train.
Absolutely brilliant.
