Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Daryl K — 10 Nov 2012
Humphrey Bogart was never a conventional leading man, but you have to hand it to him, that at the height of his fame, he was willing to play characters as unsympathetic as Fred C. Dobbs. Tim Holt is really the hero here, and Walter Huston's Academy Award-winning turn as a cantankerous old prospector is a template for that character type.
One of John Huston's best films.
