Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Lucas Q — 09 May 2008
Gold, a crazed old prospector, and two out and out men combine for a very gritty drama up in the middle of nowhere. It is in this film, that Humphrey Bogart gives one if not his greatest performance as the suspecting gold digger gone crazy.
Unfortunately Bogart lost out to the father son effect with John Huston directing and Walter Huston snagging the Oscar for his off beat performance as the prospector who gets them going on gold. His laugh is memorable enough to garner an Oscar I guess.
