Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Pinklama R — 25 Jun 2008
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is probably one of the greatest action and adventure films ever made. The story revolves around three near strangers who go on a quest for gold in the wilderness of Mexico.
Soon, greed and mistrust grow among the prospecters. This is when things get interesting. Encounters with bandits, other gold seeking americans, and villagers appear no long after, adding some extra spice to the already intirguing plot (When the bandits were on screen, it was actually quite suspenseful).
Where this film is separated from other action films, however, is found within the smart script, which is sucessfully manned by John Huston, who helps make this film a classic. Along with the films direction, there is a notable cast.
The most notable of the actors, though, is Hunphery Bogart, who does perfectly as a man who starts to unhinge from sanity early on in the film (Note: this does not spoil any of the movies surprises.) Unpredictable and tense, The Treasure of The Sierra Madre is simply wonderful.
