Review of The Traveler (2010) by Phil H — 16 Nov 2010
Horror chiller this is marked as LOL!! well don't go getting all excited because despite in the obvious lure of Val Kilmer this is pretty rank stuff. It actually starts off pretty well in a kind of 'Twilight Zone' type of way and I found myself liking the spooky atmosphere and light dramatics haha.
The cast are unknowns and to be honest abit lame but at first it just added to the charm, then Mr kilmer comes along looking bloated and bored hehe but still its OK, the problem is when the action starts and the film takes itself very seriously but unfortunately its just rather unscary and funny. The killing sequences are a joke frankly and make no real sense whilst Kilmer as the bad evil spirit is in no way threatening in the slightest, he just looks overweight and unfit.
The whole thing isn't too bad set and score wise but its just not scary with a pathetic ending to the bad guy which just seems rushed or simply like they ran out of ideas haha really weak all round basically, without Kilmer it would be totally sunk.
