Review of The Transporter (2002) by Caesar M — 12 Mar 2012
So it been while since I watched an action movie with an American actor in the lead role so I decided to watch this thinking I would get into it. Unfortunately the poorly told story ruin the experience for me.
The Transporter is about a man (Statham) whose job is to deliver packages without asking any questions, complications arise when he breaks those rules. Even when I turned my brain off to watch this movie, I just couldn't get into it. Now no ones see a movie like this for the story, but at-least the writers could have made an attempt to make it decent. It's not engaging, I never cared for any of the characters, and it's dull compare to other action movies I've seen. Though I will say it did avoid having mindless and pointless violence which is the only good thing to come from the writing.
I always found Jason Statham to be an enjoyable actor even in his bad movie, the same could be said about him here. While his acting is at best passable. His action scenes on the other hand well done and performed which saves the movie from being a total drag. Now I did like the cast, even though they could have delivered better performances. One thing that bugged is Qi Shu speaking English, it's not bad , but it's exactly good either which made it hard for me to get into her character.
The Transporter is nothing special considering better things have been done in this genre. Jason Statham comes being the best part of the movie and it's a shame the writing couldn't be better.
