Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Lestomatesdecorrompues L — 05 Jul 2009
It was the first time I watched this film after almost two decades, and I can't believe how fresh this is, and how well it held up through the years. This was a way better film than the 2 live-action feature films released by Michael Bay. Ok, maybe if you are talking about special effects and technology wise, then the live-action films have the lead. But as far as storyline, character building, star power(Nelson, Welles, Stack, Nimoy, and of course the voice-overs from the animated series) and over-all, this is way better. In fact, it can even be said that the story of this animated film may be even more adult-oriented than Bay's versions. It can also been seen that many of Bay's ideas for his Transformers films(particularly the 2009 film) have similarities(intentional or coincidental) to this 1986 film. If you have go see all these films, you will know what I mean.
To sum up, if you do not know anything about the Transformers, you might have trouble following what this film is about at first, but you will still be entertained by it at the end. If you're a Transformers fan, then for sure you will enjoy this, even more than the live-action ones. Did for me.
