Transformers The Movie is a big epic movie of a cartoon, with beautiful animation and a amazing cast, starts big and remains consistant through out.

Its great to see somthing different from the series 1 & 2 scripting, where every episode the same thing, Megatron comes up with a plan or a new weapon to destroy Optimus and his crew, every episode the Autobots battle the Decepticons normaly ending with Megatron screaming retreat.

The Autobots win, everyones happy.

But the movie takes us somwhere new, with a much better script and huge battles which don't have happy outcomes, for once transformers were being killed off, we see nearly the entire Autobot cast of series 1 destroyed within the first 20 minutes not to mention the death of Optimus Prime.

This was the start of a new direction for universe that carried over into series 3 and 4.

The battles are epic with the action and laughs comming thick and fast, not to mention one of the best 80's soundtracks ever! Its still great watching it again to see Hotrod speeding towards Autobot headquarters with Stan Bush classic The Touch blasting out our speakers.

This movies also has a truly steller cast, including Leonard Nimoy, Judd Nelson, Eric Idle and amazingly the legend that is Orson Welles.

This was to be the last project the legendary actor and film maker ever did, having completed his voice recording sesions and 5 days later he died of a heart attack.

He told his biographer a few days before he died, he was working on this kids thing where toys do nasty things to each other. I am this giant planet that eats other planets and then I die.

He may not of understood it but millions of kids loved it, and still do to this day, now grown up with their own kids they can sit down with them and watch it again, because it is a wonderfuly well made film that truly stands the test of time.
