Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Ian C — 14 Nov 2010
I cannot tell you how much potential this movie had. There was an awesome opening song and the things going on were amazing, but the moment I saw Optimus Prime, the freaking main character of the whole franchise, tragically die, my ability to like this film was flushed down the cyber-toilet.
How is there ANY reason, let alone a good reason, to EVER kill off Optimus? He was and is everyone's favorite. It doesn't end here, though. So many other of the best characters like Prowl, Ratchet and Hound are all killed as well.
I don't know what kind of drugs the makers of Transformers were on when they decided to just throw away the best of what they had worked so much on, but they did it. Let's just say this never happened.
