Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Sean C — 10 Sep 2011
Flawless! Non stop action from the offset & a phenomenal soundtrack to accompany it, Stan Bush & Spectre General the notable artists with Vince DiCola adding in the instrumentals for battle & escape scenes.
I've read a review here saying "there is a certain "80's"ishness in the animation" Call me crazy Jon Turner, but it was 1986 when it was made so I'm guessing that was standard-think about things! The only thing I can think to cause gripe for people is the death of many Gen 1 characters (Huffer,Ironhide,Ratchet,Prowl,Optimus Prime),but this was paramount for the movie's plotline & so I don't consider it as a fault.
Fan of the cartoon? Buy it. Not a fan? Buy it. Fan since the "Real" movie came out? Buy it, & see where they went wrong!
All in all, an amazing film for anyone who has any imagination. Or who hasn't grown out of fantasy yet!
