Review of The Transformers: The Movie (1986) by Azeem H — 11 Nov 2015
The ultimate movie in the Transformers universe. Solid story line. Great soundtrack (if you like 80's hair metal and Weird Al, anyway). There's also plenty of action packed scenes with pretty good animation for 1986 Japan. (It's way better than, say, Voltron or Speed Racer.).
The story doesn't eat its own asshole on plot holes and meaningless scenes. Every scene has something to do with the progression of the story. Characters who die or change stay that way throughout the movie along with their personalities while staying true to their respective selves in the Transformers anime.
All of this is accompanied by a series voice casting: with actors like Orson Welles, Leonard Nimoy, and Peter Cullen. The main theme is done by Lion; Stan Bush's The Touch occurs more than once; Weird Al's Dare to be Stupid plays behind a world of radio personified transformers on a planet of junk.
