Review of The Train (1964) by Alan L — 25 May 2008
After you've seen the DVD cover, you have to see this film. Lancaster, at his most Rambo, versus a train as a regular Wolfenstein saboteur. The strange conceit, despite the human prisoners, his chief mission is to save the paintings, the impressionist art, travelling Himler's Dampfzug back to Berlin.
Lancaster is reluctant, but hey, any excuse he can get to kill Nazis. Funny wikipedia quote: the real Train, in fact was successfuly held up by the French resistance, using a diabolical mix of paperwork and red-tape to keep the bureaucrat Germans from getting it out of Paris.
