Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Jeremy C — 28 Mar 2008
Let's preface: I like Ellen Page, I like Mondrian grids, and I like Broken Social Scene. This film does a good job mixing all these wonderful elements and they all perform very well, but what doesn't hold up to it is the story.
It's a bit of a shame, too. On sort of a side note, I remember reading that all the footage of the film was available to the public (via BitTorrent), allowing fans and filmmakers to re-edit the film however they like.
That is very cool. I would be curious to see a version with little to no dialogue (maybe a few of Page's voiceover and monologues) as the music and the visuals themselves can make a pretty complete and maybe better film.
I do hope something like a Blu-Ray release would feature such a collection of multiple versions and edits.
