Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Eric H — 18 May 2008
There was something about this low key, indie film that really got my attention. Not only was it Ellen Page's mature performance, or the "film student's" styles of filmmaking, but the brilliant portrayal of the main caracter's subconscious mind (primarily told using splits screen).
Splis screen is not for everyone (remember Time Code? Yeah...didn't really go over well huh?) but we are not meant to be fooled by the performance or the style of filmmaking. We are meant to differentiate past, future and expectations through humiliation, fear and passions.
