Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Lee G — 01 Jan 2009
What a mess, with exception to Ellen Page's performance. Here's a movie that has lost its direction. I don't want to have to search around for what I am supposed to see on screen. It's the director's job to show me what needs to be seen in order to understand the story.
What's done here is showing too much and letting the audience sort it all out. The direction is obvious and way too self-conscious. It makes for a confusing, scattered, unsatisfying movie experience.
