Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Keita S — 14 Jan 2011
The story is literally fragmented both visually and linearly. It's told in bits and pieces with editing special effects as part of the story telling. The story is not easy to watch and you can see in the end the fragments slowly coming together to her as she thinks back on the events we have seen in pieces.
The teenage angst and heartache of life and choices comes through, but unfortunately there are deeper issues and troubles that go beyond just the regular teenage mistakes. This is slowly peeled away as you can start to gain some linear perspective.
For me the story is a bit too dark and depressing without much of a resolve. It's a sad story. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but for me I can't take much away from it. Stupid mistakes can sometimes have larger consequences than we anticipated.
So that actually is something I can take away from the film. Nevertheless, it isn't a film I could watch again or own. I'm glad I saw it, but I doubt I would ever want to see it again.
