Review of The Toy (1982) by Sean R — 26 Dec 2006
Not entirely bad but seems to misfire as a racial satire; so many people seem embarrassed to be in it (including Pryor, Gleason & Beatty) plus due to a fairly weak script isn't terribly funny & the attempted sincerity sorta leaving a bad taste in the mouth.
Maybe if The Toy was made a few years earlier & didn't try to cater to a family audience (even though this probably should have been PG-13 before the days of PG-13) it could have been more than just a paycheck for its stars (Scotty Schwartz didn't even deserve a paycheck because he is one of the worst child actors going in this.
.no wonder he ended up doing porn over a decade later).
