Review of The Toxic Avenger (1984) by Mk B — 30 Oct 2007
Lloyd Kaufmann built an industry, and created a singular genre with this grand-daddy of Troma Films. Unconcerned with logic, professionalism, or the inconveniences of Production value or performance. Instead, the real goal here is to make the biggest wack-job that pushes the envelope of political incorrectness as far as possible.
More than a quarter of a century later, it stands tall as the greatest toxic chemically contaminated super-hero splatter comedy action film. It wears its "piece of crap" label like a badge of honor, more concerned with playing to the cheap seats, than fighting for respectability.
