Review of The Toxic Avenger (1984) by Stéphane R — 17 May 2009
- A comic book of a movie that combines very gory violence, twisted humor and a little bit of everything else. Melvin, a geeky, lightweight weakling works at the Tromaville Health Clubwhere where he is picked on and bullied right out the window (literally).
He falls into a truck of radioactive waste transforming him into the super human and deformed Toxic Avenger. Soon after the transformation, Melvin begins battling the criminals of Tromaville with his trusty mop, eliminating all bad from the town.
He fights off scores of bad guys ripping their arms off, smashing heads in and killing them off in crazy ways that you'd only see in cartoons. During his crime fighting escapades he seeks the ultimate revenge on the group that pushed him over the edge, ensuring they will never mess with anyone else ever again.
Along the way he meets his woman to be, a blind woman named Sarah who comes to love him for who he is with no regard to the way he looks. This is an excellent movie, and though the Toxic Avenger is a brutal killing machine, he is one of the coolest, warmest most fun heroes ever created.
