Review of The Toxic Avenger (1984) by M D — 27 May 2009
Introduced by one of the best title sequences ever, the first of a trilogy plus one is a non-stop exercise in low-budget shenanigans. Its hard to believe that anyone in the making of this film would take themselves seriously with the deliberately bad acting, ridiculous fight scenes, pointless nudity, and awe-inspiring 80â??s soundtrack that make this midnight movie one of the most regrettably entertaining things conceived.
With unflinching and immature violence and gore, a fantastic montage of the avenger doing community service, obligatory monster sex scene, and spastic sound effects, a holy-crap what will they think of next attitude must be adopted.
A mouth flurry, deep fried hands, and a host of low production values make this Troma classic, for better or worse, unforgettable.
