Review of The Town (2010) by Enoch K — 19 May 2013
I think Jordan Hiller had the best review here, although I would still have given it a fresh score. Plausibility and credibility are my main issues. Secondary issues include the similarities to Point Break.
Credibility issues include Fergie's immense power over the group, strolling out of the heavily covered garage area at the end dressed as policemen, being able to bury the bag in the community garden dressed as a bus driver and nobody noticed, getting away from town without being caught when you know there would be the mother of all manhunts going on, with his picture plastered everywhere.
And what did she do with the money? Finance that hockey rink? Even my wife asked whether they still mark and/or record currency numbers in case of theft. In short, many gaping holes of credibility large enough to drive an armored transport through it.
Make that two or three armored transports, side by side. Oh heck, it's only a movie. And it was still entertaining and engrossing. Some great cinematography. And Ben is still a charming actor with his perennial puppy dog expression.
