Review of The Town (2010) by Mloy X — 03 Oct 2014
Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck): No matter how much you change, you still have to pay the price for the things you've done. So I got a long road. But I know I'll see you again - this side or the other.
This was a pretty good film (but not the greatest thing since wonder-bread, like the press it got). Admittedly, yes Affleck is a pretty good director, better than he is an actor (IMHO). The story is pretty interesting-- the crime, itself, the way it was executed was pretty interesting and clever; almost, inspired I would say. Although the entire cast was pretty good, like any film, there are certain performances which are standout, in particularly Rebecca Hall (who play Claire Keesey, the bank manager) gave a wonderful performance and surprisingly enough, Blake Lively (who played Krista Coughlin) gave the most convincing and best performance of all. The only complaint I have with the film that the ending was a little convenient and for a fairly dark film, the ending was a bit too hopeful, it seemed a little unrealistic and uncharacteristic when you compare it with the overall tone of the film.
