Review of The Town (2010) by Anna B — 02 Jun 2015
Technically well-made, with some really good, tense sequences. But the human elements are mostly irritating, especially Affleck's reluctant criminal superhero (he's squeaky clean, he just robs banks cuz what else is he gonna do, ya know?) and his gag-inducing romance (apparently a good relationship is built on over-sharing about traumatic experiences).
And the FBI are so clearly framed as the villains whose bumbling attempts at stopping the heroes you're supposed to shake your fist at, it got a little embarrassing by the end.
