Review of The Town (1944) by Loyal D — 30 Sep 2012
The Town meets all the criteria and more to create a classic within the heist genre, combining blood-pounding action and heart-stopping suspense with elements that made Gone Baby Gone such a critical success (a crafty screenplay and arresting visuals). While the pacing may be a bit frenetic, this film ought to be long remembered, and praised for its exciting and clever action sequences, remarkable photography, and Jeremy Renner's charismatic performance as balls-to-the-wall badass Jim. This is one I'm sure I'll call to mind from now on when someone mentions heist movies, cuz it's right up there with the best.
3.5/4.
