Review of The Towering Inferno (1974) by John W — 22 Jun 2007
The only disaster movie that has gained true popularity and world-wide acclaim. It is about the world's tallest building, the night of a grand party on the top floor, a huge fire breaks out in the middle floors, trapping the party people upstairs and the fire department from getting to them.
The movie is long, near 3 hours, but it thrills all the way. The acting is spot-on, almost perfect in every way. And the stunts and thrills exactly par the extremes of "The Poseidon Adventure", reputed as having the most extreme scenes in cinema history.
The ending is so riveting, especially for a 70s movie seen now in the new millenium, I was completely amazed. You must see this movie.
