Review of The Towering Inferno (1974) by Mike L — 10 Aug 2012
Answers the big question; does glass, steel, and cement burn? In short, yes, and much faster than wood. Revolves around the dilemma that builders are constructing buildings to tall for fire-fighters and their equipment.
Story is a new skyscraper catches fire on its upper floors from cheap wiring and all the guests at the celebration party are caught above it and its up to Steve McQueen to save them. It has a big name cast and some standard special effects.
It boils down to a bunch of failed rescue attempts over a group of pompous people we could care less about. It does nothing really wrong as it does not strive to be anything great.
