Review of The Touch of Her Flesh (1967) by Travis J — 05 Oct 2009
Husband and wife Michael (producer/director/editor/actor) and Roberta (producer/cinematographer/actor) Findlay made some of the most artful and depraved sex films of the 60s. This one, which was followed by two sequels, is about the deeds of Richard Jennings (Michael), evil one-eyed misogynist.
The Findlays were true auteurs, exploring private obsessions through bizarre dialog/narration and Roberta's highly idiosyncratic camera work. They specialized in imaginative, sometimes quite poetic murder sequences involving unlikely implements. In 1977, Michael's life came to a fitting conclusion: he was killed by a detached helicopter blade whilst on his way to demonstrate a 3-D camera that he had invented. Roberta continued to direct horror and porno films, some of which are pretty good, until the 90s.
