Review of The To Do List (2013) by Andrew E — 30 Jul 2013
If you're looking for the polish of "Easy A" or the raunchy of "Bridesmaids," then keep looking, this isn't that movie. If you're looking for a modern take on the 90's movie (complete with lots of tongue in cheek references), and a different take on the "gotta lose my virginity" story, then you'll be in for a treat.
Aubrey Plaza is a gem that you'll be hoping to see much more of in the future, and Bill Hader is in fine form as a loveable loser that he plays so well. Most of the rest of the cast isn't given much to do apart from being props for these other two to use, but this doesn't stop the laughs from coming.
Be prepared for the cast to play it straight throughout, even in the most absurd circumstances. This is a dry comedy that hits evey nostaliga button.
