Review of The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953) by David B — 18 May 2014
This was one of Dad's favourite films and I can see why. The gentle cast bring a great Britishness that is now long forgotten. The gentle humour and story really work well for a colourful 1953 film but this story is about the steam stars, the engines.
A fantasic scene for it's time when the train rides onto an open street, using no green screen or other footages, relies on great production value and a lorry converted into a train that looks almost real.
People laugh about the title and I know not many people my age will/have seen this but I'm thankful for my dad to show me that classic british comedies really do test of time, slighty dated but shows what British films were really like before gangster/violent films.
Thanks Dad. :) Great cast and a great family, funny film.
