Review of The Titan (2018) by Tim W — 17 Oct 2018
A decent cast wasted. Clunky expisition and poor detailing in a film about science, fact or fiction is disastrous. The psychometric evaluations for the candidates falls short of that required for the average public servant.
The medical supervision is way less than that of a standard pharmaceutical trial. One day the injections are in a vein the next a muscle. The paediatrician is suddenly a research scientist. I'm not bothered by bad language, but when it's obviously used just to attempt to lend gravitas to a third rate script it just jars and risks alienating a potential audience.
It's cliched beyong belief. The dead father compex. The maverick scientist - who would fund this idiocy? - the two dimensional chatacterisation. It's all summed up by Sam Worthington's 'blind scene in the kitchen.
A less convincing depiction of someone making a sandwich blindfold you'll not see. Some nice location shots, though.
