Much of the movie Milk is based upon this 1984 Documentary about the rise and untimely demise of Harvey Milk.
All the Hollywood, drama, dust and glittered is removed, it prevents, well more of the facts than the melodrama.
But it also does a better job of telling the story after Milks assassination, and highlighting characters like Diane Feinstein, who werent really in Milk, and down playing the stories of Harvee's lovers Scott and Jack. Cleve Jones was also absent.
Good companion piece to Milk, and to see the real life people behind it.
