Review of The Times of Harvey Milk (1984) by Joseph A — 08 Mar 2009
THIS is everything the movie wished it could be. I was able to get immersed into the late 70's in San Francisco and know what it was like for the people. While the movie just followed Harvey Milk and pretty much said "this is what he did" and that's all.
The documentary shows what was going on and the immense impact he had on the LGBT community. I still find it interesting that Ronald Reagan opposed prop 6 (which means he supported the gay community) while Jimmy Carter just said he opposed it as he was walking off stage after being told by an advisor that it would be wise to say that, although the film barely touches it.
Overall this movie has great footage, interviews, and clips from the events surrounding the career and death of Harvey Milk.
