Review of The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) by Andy S — 06 Feb 2012
WOW, is Rachel McAdams a beauty! This is a sweet, weepie but also a manipulative film that I know is, by formula, trying to yank me in certain emotional places.. and I fall for it. SUCKER !!! Oh well..
a beautiful score (by Mychael Danna) is partly responsible as we are thrown about in time. Time Travel as a genetic disorder?? Why Not? Definitely a new twist on the genre. I might like to know how it all happened (to make him slip back and forth in time and why certain times and places) but that would make it more of a sci-fi film as opposed to the romantic drama that it is.
Bruce Joel Rubin wrote the script. He always seems to work in the themes of love and death and always seems to get a response from me. This film feels like a cousin to Somewhere in Time.
