The Time Traveller's wife is a well loved character of many readers and it is difficult to cast someone to portray her. Thus, I salute McAdams for her stellar performance for this movie adaptation.
Yet, I can say that the film narrative is quite ineffective and unappealling, esp to those who haven't read the book.
