I haven't read the book but I'll put it down in my "books to read" list along with all the other Sci-fi classics which I haven't read yet.

The movie is pretty good. I don't know if it stays true to the book or not but the plot is very interesting. I like how the hero goes to the future and sees things we know about (WW2, future fashion trends..) or fear (nuclear war) and then things which come totally out of Wells' extensive imagination with the depiction of earth 800 thousand years in the future.

I was quite impressed by the special effects for a 1960 movie.

The only bad thing I noticed about The Time Machine is that its somewhat cheezy for a modern spectator. At least I found it cheezy, its one of these Sci-fi movies which didn't age very well yet its far from being as catastrophic as most 60s movies, rest assured!

But apart from that I really liked it.

The ending, with that "mindbreaking" question, "which book would you take to the future if men lost all their knowledge?" is pretty neat.

Recommended.
