Review of The Tigger Movie (2000) by Kyle G — 22 May 2012
At this time, Pooh's only other feature film had been a collection of three featurettes more than twenty years earlier, so The Tigger Movie is arguably the very first example of a full-length Pooh story. Thankfully, it doesn't disappoint, drawing out a complex narrative from the familiar Hundred Acre Wood setting.
Falkenstein leaves behind the boring hero vs. villain convention and instead picks up a challenging existential theme in Tigger's story. The art is a pleasant homage to Shepard's original illustrations, the writing has the same deft wit as Milne's books, and the songs are quite irresistible as well.
