Review of The Three Stooges (2012) by Terry R — 25 Feb 2013
While it's never going to replace the fun of watching the original Stooges, this film is a loving tribute to the men who kicked the holy hell out of each other for our amusement. The jokes are rapid fire, if there's one that stinks, sit tight and there'll be two more coming up you might like in seconds.
The cast is pretty terrific. Sasso, Hayes and Diamantopoulos are quite good mimicking Moe, Larry and Curly. The vocal inflections are there and their comic timing is impeccable. Also great is the curmudgeonly Larry David as a nun with really poor taste in ring tones and a deep seeded hatred for the Terrible Trio.
Sophia Verga is nice eye candy and gets a couple of good shots in but nothing too spectacular there. The script meanders in the middle and sags a bit in the end but really, you're not going for the plot - you're there for the laughs.
And there are plenty. If you like the Stooges, I don't think you'll be disappointed. A solid "B".
