The Three Stooges and The Farrelly Brothers. Both are hilarious in their own right. So, combining the two seems like a sure fire win, right? Nope. Not even close, unfortunately. The Three Stooges consists of three "episodes" that chronicle the first meeting of The Three Stooges and then has them try to save the orphanage they grew up in.

First of all, it should be noted that this film was a bit of a passion project for the directors. They went through hell and back to get this to the silver screen, but when they finally did, it failed.

The writing isn't The Three Stooges material, it's basic children fodder. It's watered down for both The Stooges and the Farrelly Brothers, which is a shame. The acting is also bad, mainly because the primary three try too hard to imitate instead of pay tribute, which was a mistake.

Josh Brolin in 2012's Men in Black 3 did a fantastic job because he imitated while adding his own spin, something that was sorely missing here. The jokes were "there", but once again, it's all for children, something the origibal shorts never were.

At the end of the day, it pains me to see such iconic characters betrayed for the sake of a quick buck. It's very saddening.
