Review of The Three Musketeers (2011) by Rowena A — 02 Apr 2012
Such a weak plot, cliched dialogue, and a waste of some decent actors. Random accent associations... Considering they're all supposed to be French only two attempt some form of it, with the young 'hero' and his parents being American (of course), despite Decter Fletcher being English and many of the other characters permitted to speak this way. Enhancing De Winter's part seem to be a desperate attempt to avoid 'feminist issues' as the women in Dumas' novel are generally indicative of the time, though her actions were fun if you didn't think about it too much.
Sumptuous design and some actors who genuinely tried to bring something to their flaccid characters could not save the glaring plot holes, so I can only conclude this film was targetting young teenagers.
