A pretty straightforward attempt to pick up any slack left by the tiring Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. That's to say, it's preposterous panto for the kiddies. It also felt to modern when it came to the insane inventions and the daft airship scenes which wern't invented for another 200 years, but strangly enough it's almost a perfect adaptation of the famous book and the film looks great, the cast were ok, nothing good nor bad but the rest of the film was a complete mess and the fight scenes were slacking any originality and at times boring.

Paul W.S Anderson can direct and it was nice to see him do something different but he should stick to proper violence or horror. It's a lot more fun than the most recent hatchet-faced entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, but it's also exasperatingly slapdash.

The production value is hit and miss and does have some lame CGI effects but ou can tell Anderson loves 3D and it's hard to believe but this would probably be better in 3D and aside from James Cameron, Paul W.

S Anderson is one of the best usage of 3D directors at the moment. It has it's moments but just not enough.
