Review of The Three Musketeers (2011) by Leonard Anthony A — 25 May 2012
I'm glad I still watched this film despite the critic reviews. It shows what they know, which isn't that much apparently. This was a fun adventure romp. I've been a fan of The Three Musketeers since forever and this 2011 updated adaptation rocks! The action sequences were topnotch, the dialogue was tight and kept the story moving without getting bogged down with boring exchanges (lots of quotable one-liners in this one!), and the addition of airships injected a dimension of cool (and much needed) fantasy aspect to an otherwise-historical (and therefore, boring!) film (Airships apparently are like zombies--they automatically raise the coolness factor of ANY movie!).
This ended with a nice setup for a sequel which we cannot get soon enough: Buckingham is on his way, along with Milady and his huge fleet of ships AND airships, to bring down vengeance upon France! This is the best adaptation of Dumas' classic yet! Now if only they added demons and magic in the sequel, everything will be perfect! ^_^v.
