Review of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) by Glenn C — 26 Apr 2012
Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada is a beautiful film about redemption. Its a slow and meandering film that takes its time to tell its story. For the most part, its two men on horses riding to Mexico.
Lessons are learned and punishments are served. There are touches of Sam Peckinpah in this movie and a touch of Sergio Leonie... but I think this movie has more in common with two Australian films; The Tracker and The Proposition.
If you enjoyed those two films then you are bound to love this. Tommy Lee Jones is great and Barry Pepper is amazing. I was surprised to read that Luc Besson produced this film. Its not at all like anything he's attached his name to before.
