I really dig this movie. Pierce Brosnan is perfect as the suave thomas crown, and is obviously very comfortable in the element. I swear, the entire beginning sequence, you can just plug that into any pierce brosnan james bond movie, and it would work.
lol anyways, he was really great in this. His chemistry with Rene Russo was nice, it really worked. the romance does overplay the caper and investigation aspect of the movie, but that was a nice touch for the movie.
It turns it from a generic oceans 11 all about the heist and sometimes contrived plans to an actually emotionally driven movie. I have to give props to john mctiernan for delivering this type of film, you'd expect something harder around the edges coming from the guy who brought "die hard".
anyways, cool movie. however, I still need to watch the original with steve mcqueen, just for comparisons! :-).
