Review of The Third Man (1949) by Arnulfo P — 20 Sep 2010
The critics - and Assen - are perfectly unanimous that this is by far one of the best cinematic experiences ever created, especially as far as the classic meaning of the word "cinematic" is employed to bring to bear on this consummate treasure every film buff is obligated to experience.
No wonder it is in the top five on most connoisseurs' lists for the best movies ever crafted, as it never fails to impress with the glorious angles it deliberately shoots, poignant cinematographic touches in bringing out the post-war desolation, the lovely acting Sir Carol Reed brought out in his cast and that lovely musical choice we all remember as revolutionary at the time.
Small wonder, then, that the elements coherently combine to create one of the most intellectually ravishing wholes I have ever seen!!!
