Review of The Third Man (1949) by Matt M — 03 Jan 2014
Carol Reed's best work takes the best of American and British film noir with this story set in post World War II Vienna about a writer investigating the death of his old friend Harry Lime. The film is a gripping succession of fast paced plot developments, with a constant fast rhythm of images and amazing work of lighting.
Some sequences are unforgettable, and the cast is tremendous. Robert Krasker's cinematography is simply outstanding and a character in the film of its own.
