Review of The Thing on the Doorstep (2014) by Tom M — 28 May 2016
Most of the scenes are suffused with a bright glow. This might be a good look for, say, a Swedish furniture commercial but for an HP Lovecraft film, not so much. All the characters seem pretty detached from one another without a drop of chemistry in sight.
There's not one dominant personality to be seen, not even the antagonist, who is given surprisingly little screen time. Some of the characters are supposed to be involved with the black arts but their hobby may as well be stamp collecting for the little focus that's put on it.
