Review of The Thing from Another World (1951) by Mark S — 09 May 2008
Few science fiction films boast the incredibly fun and smart dialogue which this film showcases. No big names are really in this film, but that is ok because it makes it feel like the everyday man versus this amazing being from anther planet.
Trapped all by themselves in the middle of the Arctic with a creature that can survive the extreme cold the people can still crack a joke or two and still hold onto their nerve with the guidance of Captain Patrick Hendry.
While it could later be turned into a gruesome affair I think it better to let the imagination take effect by what details the characters let drop. It is an excellent horror/science fiction.
