Review of The Thing from Another World (1951) by Dan G — 04 Oct 2013
I don't see why this movie is considered the best sci-fi film of all time. Perhaps it's because the lists are created by film critics and not true, hardened nerds like they should be. They would most definitely give Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan that title.
But all kidding aside, I felt that The Thing from Another World dragged for the short, 1 hr. 27 min. running time. There were long scenes, inaudible gibberish, and just not enough suspense or character development to even care that much.
The scientist guy and his "let him kill us because he is superior to us" attitude might be the precursor to Ian Holm's character in Alien.
