Review of The Thing Called Love (1993) by Elizabeth N — 24 Oct 2008
A good film, with a strong cast and a nice, if not a little drawn out, storyline.
The music was great, it was wonderful to see River Phoenix's singing so much. I especially love the song Samantha sings at the end, and I adore River's song 'Until Now' as I find the words beautiful.
Speaking of River, him and Samantha Mathis put in one hell of a performance (such a shame that it was River's last) and Dermot Mulroney played the part of Kyle perfectly, you couldn't help but feel for him. Sandra Bullock was also great, providing light relief through out the film and the guest appearnace from Trisha Yearwood was pretty cool.
I'd definalty recommend this film to people, especially if you are a fan of any of the cast and if you like country music.
Finally I have to say Samantha Mathis is a lucky girl, having both Dermot Mulroney and River Phoenix fighting over her, it must have been hard going to work everyday and having that happen :).
