Rather than doing a remake they go the prequel route.
Though it wasn't bad it was disappointing considering how good the Thing starring Kurt Russell is.
The use of CG effects for the creature was mediocre and it's too bad they couldn't use the same effects people that worked on the original.
Yes it tries to answer the question of what happened to the Norwegians but I honestly think the better question should have been, do we need to know what happened to the Norwegians?
